Psa 2:1-12(1)  Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?(2)  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying,

(3)  “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”

(4)  He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.

(5)  Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,

(6)  “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”

(7)  I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.

(8)  Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.

(9)  You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”

(10)  Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.

(11)  Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

(12)  Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

This psalm talks about people who essentially hate God and think that they can defeat Him. Perhaps you know people like this, who hate God so much that they deny His existence or outright are filled with hatred towards Christ and Christians. The Bible tells us that one day all of the nations will be united in their hatred of God and attempt to destroy Him.

God laughs at such arrogance and stupidity. It would be like a fish in a bowl challenging a roaming cat to a battle, or an ant trying to kill a human. There is only one true king and his name is Jesus. He has come once and will return again. The nations and all people belong to Him. Jesus will destroy the works of the evil rulers and their people. This is good news. There will be no Hitler in God’s perfect kingdom, or rapists, or any other evildoer who has rejected God.

In vs. 12 we are encouraged to “Kiss the Son” or else be destroyed. Bowing before a king and kissing his feet is a pledge of our allegiance and devotion to our ruler. Jesus is our refuge and safety; we need to turn to Him. Kiss Jesus today and promise to Him that even if all the nations should turn their backs on Him, you will be faithful to Him. He is our refuge!!!
